IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) at Vindana

A Gentle First Step Towards Conception

For many couples and individuals experiencing fertility challenges, Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) represents a gentle, minimally invasive first step in fertility treatment. At Vindana IVF and Fertility Care Hospital, our IUI programme is designed to maximise your chances of conception while minimising the physical and emotional demands of more complex interventions.

What Is IUI?

Intrauterine Insemination is a fertility procedure in which specially prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. By placing sperm closer to the fallopian tubes where fertilisation naturally occurs, IUI increases the likelihood of sperm reaching and fertilising an egg. The procedure itself is brief, typically takes just a few minutes, and is generally well tolerated.

IUI may be performed in a natural cycle — timed with the woman's natural ovulation — or alongside mild ovarian stimulation using oral or injectable medications to encourage the development of one or two follicles, thereby improving the chances of a successful outcome.

Who Is IUI Suitable For?

IUI is often recommended as a first-line treatment for couples with unexplained infertility, mild male factor infertility (such as mildly reduced sperm count or motility), cervical factor infertility, or irregular ovulation. It is also commonly used by single women and same-sex female couples using donor sperm, as well as couples where the male partner has difficulty with ejaculation due to medical or psychological reasons.

IUI is generally not recommended when there is evidence of significant blockage in the fallopian tubes, severe male factor infertility, or when a woman has experienced multiple unsuccessful IUI cycles — in which case, progression to IVF may be advised.

The IUI Process at Vindana

Your IUI journey at Vindana begins with a thorough fertility assessment for both partners. This includes a comprehensive review of your medical history, hormone profiling, ultrasound evaluation of the uterus and ovaries, and a semen analysis. These investigations allow our specialists to confirm that IUI is the most appropriate treatment for your specific circumstances and to personalise your protocol accordingly.

On the day of the procedure, a sperm sample is provided and processed in our andrology laboratory using a technique called sperm washing, which concentrates the healthiest, most motile sperm and removes seminal fluid that could cause uterine cramping. The prepared sample is then gently introduced into the uterine cavity via a soft, thin catheter.

Simple, affordable, and effective for the right candidates — IUI at Vindana is always delivered with expert precision and genuine compassion.

Following the procedure, we monitor your progress closely and provide a supportive environment while you wait for results. Our care team is available to answer questions, ease anxieties, and guide you through the two-week wait and beyond — whatever the outcome may be.
